It is responsible for a number of high-profile competitions, such as the Champions League and European Championship. These tournaments generate significant revenue for the organization, with UEFA’s total revenue amounting to over 4.3 billion euros in 2022/23. The current president is Aleksander Čeferin, who has held the position since November 2016.

Which UEFA competitions generate the most revenue?

When looking at UEFA’s revenue over time, peaks can be observed in years that a European Championship has taken place. This is perhaps no surprise - the revenue of the most recent EURO tournament amounted to nearly 1.9 billion euros. However, the revenue of the Champions League exceeds that of any other UEFA competition. In 2022/23, the tournament generated over 3.2 billion euros, with the largest share coming from broadcasting rights. UEFA’s second and third tier club competitions were also significant sources of revenue that season - the combined revenue of the Europa League and Conference League amounted to over 481 million euros.

What are UEFA’s leading women’s competitions?

At international level, UEFA’s leading women’s competition is the European Women’s Championship, also known as the Women’s EURO. In 2022, England won the tournament for the first time, defeating Germany in the final. Despite the defeat, Germany remains the country with the most Women’s EURO titles. At club level, the Women’s Champions League (UWCL) represents the highest tier competition. French club Olympique Lyonnais has dominated in recent years – a remarkable run of five consecutive titles from 2015/16 to 2019/20 means that Lyon is the club with the most UWCL titles, with eight overall.
